On a nice evening it was hot and sunny so I went outside and ran into my dog playing with her ball on the pool deck. I thought she looked extremely cute, as she usually does so I took her picture. Next I liked the shadow my moms adequately placed tree casted as it was perfect for my photo. It looked as if the shadow created a creature like darkness on the wall. The next one is a photo of the reflection of one of the tree in my back yard. I thought it looked kind of cool so I took the picture. Next my brother boxes so we have quite a few of these hanging from are celling. I thought it looked kind of cool agents the while wall and the window and sun made a rainbow that showed up on the bottom part of the image. Last but not least, my brother sitting at his very dirty " work station", work as in video games... I though the light coming through the window looked kind of cool and he was an easy subject since from behind he didn't know I was taking his picture, heck he probably didn't notice I was there.

Here is my dad, unforchanitly I am not close with my one grandparent so I had to resort in my parents. My mother being my mother refused to have her picture taken since she believes she will look bad... My father not being a model or not exited to get his picture taken gave me the idea to lurk in the shadows and take a few quick pictures of him in his natural habitat...... My dad is still currently in this position down stairs searching for this spring breaks adventure.. who knowns where we will go.. Anyway, the blurred out weird figure in front of my dad would be Hogan. He always has be in everyones business making a weird face. Every picture I take of him he is making the weirdest expression. I swear he knew I was taking the picture. Anyway here is my " ancestor"...
These are the 15 photos I have chosen. Although I don't live down town I do live in Vancouver and there are many different sides to our city. I went to the East side and drove/ walked around taking pictures of people and things that caught my eye.I find East Van the most interesting place in Vancouver. Before about a year ago I wouldn't ever go to that part of the city because it made me uncomfortable, but since I started my apprenticeship with Stephen I have been in East Van more in the studio, spending more time down there. I tried to pick each photo that had some color in it. I feel like it ties that photos together a little bit. Living in West Van its like a little bubble, and by going to East Van and purposely looking around and looking for something interesting really opens your eyes. Sadly there are so many people who don't have homes in East Van and even though we live across a Bridge its still are back yard and I believe we need to do the best we can and help our city, by donating etc to the people down there. I know its full of so much character and its place where I do live even though its not close to my exact house.
These are the three photos I took this weekend. They all where taken on Sunday. I was having a hard time with the sun because it was not a sunny day. But when I got that stream of light between the trees every once in a while I would set up and take the picture as you can see in the first photo. I liked this photo because the light created a ring of green. I am not sure why but I kind of liked it cause the green ring contrasted with the green of the trees. The second photo is my silhouette photo of Oceana. I like how this turned out. She is very in focus and the trees are very blurred out. Her face has light and dark aspects which I think look really good since the back is all light. The third photo is a self portrait. I didn't really want a camera in my face, since I like staying behind it, so I worked around it. I placed a rock under my lens, pointing it up towards me. This created a full body portrait and not a ton of focus on my face. I think that all the photos contradict them selfs. They all have a big dark portion to them and look similar. If I had to do it again, I would possibly not do it in a forest, and Maybe in somewhere more open, with more light.
The other day me and my mom went on a little photo adventure. We drove up my favourite mountain, Cypress mountain. When me and my brother where little, my dad would take us up to play in the snow and run around with the dogs. Suprilzingly there was quite a bit of snow as you may be able to see in the first photo. This is of my mom and the massive trees that surrounding her. I feel the image makes her look small and the trees look ginormous around her. The second photo I took on the road. I waited for a car to come and when I did I made sure I got the sunlight on the trees and the shadow as well. I think it creates two sides to the image. Then when a car came I took a quick snap shot. I think the massive shadows on the trees make the car look tiny on the long windy road. The third photo is of people at the look out. They are most likely tourist enjoying are amazing city. So I waited in the car for them to be visible the way I wanted. One guy gave us a strange look as we drove by but as long as I got the shot I wanted. I like all theses photos because they all have a theme of the out doors and to me and anyone else familiar with Cypress and theme could be the mountain.
I picked theses photos cause they are my most recent photos besides my film ones. With unforchanit miss communications my film camera was not going to be developed in time. So I took photos from my last downtown adventure. Me and two of my friends actually went to shoot for a fashion blog that is underway and coming soon, but while doing that favour for a friend I took a few of my own snaps that I could use. As you may be able to see I like portraits. I think it tells must more of a story and there is more to look at. Although I do love any kind of photography.
For some reason I couldnt figure out how to get it right, all tho the pictures above show my progress, cause by the end I pretty much got my dads hand to be completly frozen when the background seems to be moving. It was challanging to get my subjects frozen. I read the article and I am pretty sure I did what it said but I might be wrong. The images in the article made it look so easy but for some reason I couldnt get it perfect. If I where to do it again I would maybe try something else that I come up with the article didn't say to do, and see if it works..
This week it only rained about once, so it was difficult for me to get photos, and if it did I would of been at UBC playing Field Hockey so it would been hard for me to get the image I wanted. So with that I waited for the rain and it came today. During warm up for my field hockey game it started to rain but ended just as the game started. I was hoping that by the time I got home I would be able to get the pictures I wanted. By the time I got home the sun was gone and little light was visable. I took the picture of Lucy first, she stayed still the hole time while I took her picture while she stood over a small pubble in my backyard. When I got the shot I wanted there was preety much no light. A light bulb went off in my head and I ran to my room, I pulled my cactus off my shelf and trickled water onto its leafs and took the picture. I cheated a little bit but I think it turned out just fine.
Here are my fall photos. These photos remind me of fall, the first one because I always think about the leafs falling and the amazing colors that the leafs change into. I think everything looks pretty during fall due to all the colors. The second photo is my mom at the dinner table during Thnaks Giving, I defently think of Thanks Giving when I think of fall, and the dogs are always trying to get a taste as you can see in the photo. Third photo is of friends, fall is the begining of the school year and you are always making new friends during this time. Last but not least is Field Hockey, the season is short but its amzing, Its during fall so thats why It reminds me of it.
